What are some of the best mid range (50-70US) restaurants(French) in the St. Germain area?
Thank you!

You should try L'Epi Dupin in rue Dupin. It's always packed and tables are small, but the food is excellent.

There are a couple of menus in that price range at La Procope on Rue de L'Ancienne Comedie, and even if the restaurant itself is intimidating, have a drink and something from the raw bar.

Then you can get dessert or ice cream elsewhere in the neighborhood.

le comptoir. Also depends on your definition of the saint germain area. Le Paris in the hotel lutetia. L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon. Gaya. Tante Marguerite. L'Arpege. And at the other end of the bd saint germain, (in the 5th): bistot cote mer, le pontoise, le pre verre, chez rene, le relais du beaujolais

Souphie, I heard Chez Rene had been sold. Are the quality and ambiance still as good?

it's been slightly modernised, the menu not handwriiten anymore, those sort of things. No big change in spirit -- technically, it may be a tad better.
