Problem with Parentheses at the end of Paragraphs

EDIT: For some reason, the problem I'm describing is not happening in this post. But it has been occurring consistently over the past few months, including the past few days. I don't know why it's not happening in the examples I give below, but it's not. I'm sorry...

The boards do not like parentheses - you know, our friends "(" and ")" - at the end of paragraphs. It drops the closing parenthesis down by two lines instead of including them in the same paragraph. You can get around this by putting a space after the parentheses, but the boards should really be able to handle them.

This paragraph is an example. Let's say I'm talking about something, blah blah blah, and then I continue in the paragraph. (But then the last sentence I write is something in parentheses, just like this.)

As you can see, it dropped the closing parenthesis down by two lines.

It does it in lists, too. For example, let's say I want to recommend several restaurants:

Restaurant A (Chinese)
Restaurant B (Thai)
Restaurant C (Italian)

However, if I follow them with spaces, it's okay, like this:

Restaurant A (Chinese)
Restaurant B (Thai)
Restaurant C (Italian)

So that's the problem.

    I believe it's a side effect of some code that was put in place to keep URLs from breaking--people very commonly include URLs in parenthesis, and that was making them not work when clicked. It's mildly annoying, and I hope Engineering will fix it eventually, but much less so than the URLs breaking that was the original problem.

      It's possible that's what's going on. Let me try a couple of examples, one with spaces inside the parentheses, the other without spaces.

      Here's an example of a website address in parentheses with spaces alongside it - ( http://chicago.peninsula.com/pch/dining_01.html

      )

      And here's an example of a website address in parentheses without spaces alongside it - (http://chicago.peninsula.com/pch/dini...

      )

      Now, let's see how that looks.

        Okay, THAT is an example of how it dropped the closing parenthesis down by two lines. (Thanks, Jacquilynne!)

        It all looks fine on my computer. I'm using a PC with Internet Explorer.
