Baltimore - Local Ribs, Tomatoes and Corn

We are having visitors over the next eight weeks from Oregon, Washington State, New England and Germany. Certainly crabs are Maryland and I think I know who does crabs well. I also would like our visitor to enjoy Maryland tomatoes and corn and ribs seem to go with them. What are the Baltimore Chowhounds recommendations where we can take these visitors to get a taste of Maryland. To give everyone a sense of our geography, we live in Timonium but, needless to say, we have wheels. Any suggestions are appreciated.

  1. Get fresh tomatoes (and other produce) at the Baltimore Farmers Market on Sunday.

      I appreciate the thought but we recently downsized and we now live in a stack pack (no BBQ) so we have to go out for "a taste of Maryland". The question is, where to go?

    2. Chameleon Cafe on Harford Road is serving their Maryland menu through the middle of Sept. It is awesome. City Paper reviewed the menu last year and couldn't say enough. Balt. magazine may have too. Anyway the crab and cantelope salad, corn chowder and bluefish... yes bluefish are great. can't recall if they have ribs but go to Andy Nelsons to take care of that fix.

        I loved the Maryland Menu last year. Local heritage dishes sensitively updated, using full flavored ingredients. This is the place to go for a taste of Maryland!

      2. Petits Louis was having a tomato festival a few weeks ago (with a prix fixe dinner of all heirloom tomato dishes). Pricey, but well worth it.
