Campbell River Recommendations?

  • 6

Will be going to Campbell River with my wife in mid-September. She's being a good sport and "enduring" a day of Salmon Fishing with me. I'd like to do something nice for her, and take her out for a nice meal or two while we're there. Any suggestions?

  1. Not a gourmet town but...
April Point lodge on Quadra Island- 10 minute ferry ride
Patti Finns on the Dock ( pub food and music)

    1. I live in CR and am an avid foody. Sushi - Koto's. Classic dining maybe Harbour Grill. Thai - Baan Thai. Oh you might try thr Riptide Pub. No other restaurants of value. I travel to Courtenay/Comox 45 minutes south for my foody fix. Toscano's, Atlas Cafe or Martin's, all good. Above all else do not go to April Point! Went there recently, maybe the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. Chicken Sate appetizer consisted of two cold skewers of chicken with commercial three bottled sauces and a piece of store bought pita bread. I don't want to relive the experience by describing further. Just take my advice.

What about the Mexican place in Courtenay?

Thanks for the info. Wife isn't much for Sushi, so we'll have to give that one a pass. The other three places sound promising though. We're there for 4 nights, and staying at a B&B so between your suggestions and whatever our host might suggest, it sounds like we're in good shape. If you have any other thoughts popping to mind, feel free to post them. We don't leave for another 2 weeks.

The Mexican place in Courtenay is Titas. Very good. Fresh food. Specialty is moles. I recently heard thta Dolphins in CR has a new small place with a very limited menu but the food is excellent. Haven't been there but the reporting source is usually trust-worthy. May try it myself soon and will report. Cheers.

        2. You should try a new place in Comox, Thyme on the Ocean, it has the best food by far!
