Salted Caramel Cupcake at Lark Cake Shop

Stopped in for a second time at Lark Cake Shop in Silver Lake yesterday--they have a lot more flavors than when they first opened. I opted for the salted caramel cupcake--vanilla cupcake with a salty caramel icing-like frosting (hard-er, not soft and fluffy). It was delicious--the cake is small enough that you get a good icing to cake ratio with salty-sweet in every bite. They're under $2 too--about $1.50 I think.

They also had a rum cupcake which i sampled---layered with pecans on the bottom at top--very rich and caramel-y--good for fall, though I don't think I could eat a whole one. Nutmeg, lemon, carrot cake, red velvet, black and white, and something fudge-like were all on the menu as well.

It's at 3337 Sunset Blvd, north side of the street next to Stark Waxing Studio.

My last visit was right after it opened--you can see a few photos here:

Dang, I don't even like cupcakes that much, and now you've gotten me thinking about salted caramel. Last night we walked to Pazzo for the pistachio/espresso swirl, which was pretty darn good...might have to take another walk tonight.

I don't get the salt/sweet thing -- sounds kinda icky.
