Best Restaurants in Monterey

  • 6

We're headed to Monterey for the annual car show this weekend. Food seems to be hit-or-miss in downtown Monterey. We've had amazing food at Stoke's Adobe, then were disappointed when we went back. We're looking for anything but stuffy, old-fashioined food, like Fresh Cream. Any suggestions?

  1. I'd recommend Passionfish, located in Pacific Grove.

    1. I also agree with Passionfish. There have been a couple reviews recently you might fell are helpful.

      Other spots would be:
      Tarpy's Roadhouse on Mtry/Salinas Hwy
Montrio Bistro (one street up from Alvarado)
for a no frills dinner Hula's on Lighthouse
      If you head into Carmel
      give Luca's a try
      or Wickets at Bernardus
Sorry, I know this is a little late.

      1. Here are links to some of the restaurants.

The address above for Cantinetta Luca is incorrect:

Cantinetta Luca is on Dolores between Ocean & 7th in Carmel

          1. re: Moka

Oops!! That's what I get for not paying attention. Thanks for correcting!

        2. We were in the Monterey Bay area a week ago. Following Chowhound recommendations, we had excellent dinners at Passion Fish and Stokes and a good breakfast at Tico's in Marina.
