Ribs Right Now!

  • 5

Ok, so I'm hungry and so is my just-graduated son. We want ribs. We don't want to drive (we're in North Woodward Ave). Lazy Bones is closed.

Can we get a fix with minimum output of energy? Thinking Matt Prentice, Tavern on 13, but you guys must have a plan B!

Ciao!!

    1. My preference would be Oxford Inn in Royal Oak, but that hardly helps you 8 hours after the fact. Tavern on 13 isn't bad for ribs, though.

KT, she is asking about Berkley, Michigan and thereabouts.
Chic-N-Ribs (Woodward, just north of the Zoo on the west side of Woodward) is not bad. Y'all need a Boneyard out that way!
As far as ribs go, I've had the same experience, where I want them but don't want to go out, drive too far, pay for drinks, tip over what I think should be tipped because of WHERE it is, be out late, so I've been trying area delivery places for those times. I hate to say it, but I haven't found one that I REALLY like and would go back to. Like? Yes. Worth what I paid? Yes. Love? No. I'd suggest finding a pizza place around you with ribs that delivers or has easy pick-up and trying it. We all have different tastes. A trusty delivery on food can be a person's best friend.

Otherwise, Oxford Inn is a good choice, but if you're going that far south, just head down to one of the lower-mile roads and stop into a veritable BBQ west of Woodward. 6, 7 and 8 mile Rds. all have amazing BBQ places, as does Livernois between 8 and the Lodge.
Let us know when you happen to find something you like, or have even tried, and congratulations to your son on his graduation!

      2. Try Chicken Shack. They're a local chain in metro Detoit, and their ribs are the best I've had in the state.

        1. I know you don't want to drive, but on the occasion that you do, you MUST check out the ribs at Zingerman's Roadhouse in Ann Arbor. They are fantastic, and totally worth the drive.
