A bacon-wrapped hot dog emergency!
Chowhounders, help!
We have a friend in town from NY who has heard about and lusted after the idea of our famed "Guadalajara Dogs" -- those dirty and delicous late-night bacon-wrapped hot dogs served out of carts around LA.
The problem is, they seem to be disappearing and we no longer know where to find them. Does anyone know of a regular Guadalajara dog spot that we could hit tonight? We're in picfair, so Pico, Hollywood or K-town would be ideal.
Thanks in advance!

Come to any park in East Los Angeles and you will find a guy selling the type of hot dog you are looking for. The corner of Wilshire and Alvarado was mentioned earlier, I have been there and they are good. There is a park in Boyle Heights called Garcia Park on Fresno St, between Euclid and Lorena, and there is a vendor there every Tuesday afternoon, and he hooks up the dogs perfectly. If you are looking for a dog wrapped in bacon, covered in grilled onions, jalepenos, mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise, and relish, this is what you find at these two locations. Good luck!

I know it's too late for your friend from NY, but for a sure-bet, every Sunday afternoon and evening, there are 4-5 vendors (as well as pupusa vendors, frutas vendors, counterfeit DVD vendors, etc.) on the corner of Cesar Chavez and Spring, near the church. They take up over a block on Spring.
And as previously mentioned, they have been in front of the Chinese theater recently.
Or, we noticed them yesterday at the illegal immigration march downtown as we were walking to the Tofu Festival. If you find the immigration marches, you'll probably be able to find the bacon-wrapped hot dogs.

On the weekends there is always a cart between the bars Little Joy and the Shortstop on Sunset Bvd in Echo Park/Elysian Park.

Went on a search for the elusive bacon-wrapped hot dog cart tonight (friday) around 11pm. Tried Sunset between Little Joy and Shortstop in Echo Park, tried Sunset @White Knoll by the club, and tried 6th st east of alvarado. Nada, nothing, zilch. Maybe 11pm is too early? I cant really eat a hot dog nowadays much past midnite. Ended up at Tommys but wasn't really what I was craving. Sigh.

ok i'll tell you exactly where to go:
1. temple st. @ douglas st. in los angeles, on the corner, weekdays between 6-7pm (maybe they're there until later). i just pass it every day on the way home from work. every now and then he'll be gone, maybe (one day every week or two?) but that may just be because i missed him. it's a decent bacon-wrapped hot dog, not the greatest, but fairly representative of the genre.
2. sunset blvd. @ white knoll drive, evening to late night, whenever the latin club is going on across the street (most nights, definitely weekend party nights).
there are others too, but if i said "just check the hollywood clubs" or something it's hit or miss. sometimes it's the legit hebrew national carts - not quite the same thing.
good luck!

The best bacon-wrapped hot dog I ever had was in front of Club Tatou on 3rd and Boylston in Downtown LA. They served it with this avocado salsa that made the already too-good for words hot dog into something unforgettable. But I only know that it's there when the club lets out ... around 1:30~2am... not sure if it's always around.

Thanks everybody for the great info. We didn't want the Pink's dogs, we wanted them straight off a cart -- so we set off on a Mission.
We traveled down Pico from Fairfax, and then down Olympic toward Hoover, then trolled around the Hoover/Washington area, then headed slowly (with our eyes and noses peeled) up to Hollywood...and didn't find a single dog.
What is LAPD doing to the hot dog sellers!? Aren't there crackheads to bust? What's wrong with allowing a little street food?
So our friend went home with an empty belly. And the night-time Guadalajara dog search continues.

They're always around MacArthur Park (by that cluster of illegal vendors at the corner of Alvarado and Wilshire in front of the 99ยข Store that clogs the sidewalks) and throught the Garment District, especially near Santee Alley.
EDIT: Actually, a lot of subway stations are good for finding these. I've seen recently them at the corner of Wilshire and Vermont, ready for people getting off the subway and Rapid buses. I've also seen them at the aforementioned Hollywood and Highland (usually on the far side of the Chinese, near Orange), Hollywood and Vine, and Wilshire/Western (especially when there's a concert at the Wiltern). They also appear occasionally at the Vermont/Beverly, Vermont/Santa Monica, and Vermont/Sunset stations, though not nearly as regularly.

Downtown Huntington Park. Every other block, seems to alternate with the guys selling fruit and pork skins.
The ladies with the carts used to be everywhere in the Toy and Fashion Districts in downtown LA, but that was before the city health inspectors started cracking down. Too bad.

P. SWEARS by the guy infront of the Pep Boys on Washinton right past Hoover. He does them RIGHT and always has plenty of Onions and Jalapenos. It's so bad we have to go down to the neighborhood, I have to drive, otherwise, we have to add another 15 minutes to our agenda for "pep boys time"

Even better at Pinks is the "Three dog Night" (3 dogs, 3 bacon, 3 cheese, chili, onions, served as a burrito).
See the menu under "Super Special Dogs"
http://www.pinkshollywood.com/pgz/gre...Other than that, the last time I saw it as a street vender cart was across the street from Langers near the subway station. That may be gone? Sometimes also at the dog carts in front of Home Depot. i had one at the Home Depot in Orange on Tuston Blvd.
