Citizen Cake cupcake recipe?

hungryann Aug 10, 2007 09:03 PM

Does anyone have a recipe that would replicate their vanilla or chocolate cupcakes? Although I know there are better out there, they just remind me of cupcakes eaten as a child...very nostalgic and comforting! Unforunately I no longer live in SF and I won't be visiting for a while. Help me get my fix!

Not exactly what you're looking for I know, but here's the closest I could find for ya:

Maybe it'll be in her book "Elizabeth Falkner's Demolition Desserts: Recipes from Citizen Cake"? (to be published this fall)

Thanks I also found online a recipe from Elizabeth Falkner for a boston cream cupacake but alas the much coveted vanilla cupcake recipe is nowhere to be found. I came across the recipe from Magnolia in NYC. How do their cupcakes compare to SF's Citizen Cupcake?

Hey hungryann, can't help you on Magnolia vs. Citizen Cake as I've never been to either, but... could this be the vanilla cupcake recipe you're looking for?

The recipe itself is on page 2.

This may be it. The article says it's from Falkner. I will try them and see. Thank you so so so much! You have better googling skills than I do!

I hope they taste like you remember! BTW - about the Googling - I used to find things for people on the Web for a living so I have *lots* of practice. :-)

I love the Magnolia Bakery recipe; let us know how the other recipe turns out, ok?
