Planning a trip to Seattle/Vancouver the last week of August. Coming from New Orleans, where the oysters are not great consumed raw during the summer.

Because the ocean must be so cold up there, even during the summer, I'm guessing that is not the case in the Pacific Northwest. Anybody have any suggestions on where to eat large quantities of oysters in either Seattle or Vancouver?

  1. wherever you go get kumomotos. they're actually better during the summer than the winter. but i think other varieties don't have as much seasonal cloudiness variation a you're used to either. if you don't mind shucking them yourself taylor shellfish which has several farms around the sound i think has a stand at the ballard farmers market on sundays. they have kumomotos for 11$/dozen.

    1. Though one of the local sources for oysters, south Hood Canal, is having its usual summer time bacteria problem. Some of those are subject to product recall.
