My wife and I will will be in NY for the first time and are looking for a really good pre-theater dinner near the Minskoff Theatre. Price and cuisine are not an issue. We are just looking for a romantic place (not that important) with really good chow.

vice versa is delightful...so is Hell's Kitchen for fine southwestern cuisine...and for romance, try Amalia in the nearby Dream Hotel

I second Amalia. The food was wonderful and we had a great meal there.

Amalia's food is delish, and the decor is very jazzy. But I think the overall ambiance is hip rather than romantic. Although they've been open since the beginning of the year, they have not done a thing with their website. Inexcusable! The menu on Menupages is exactly the one we had when we were there. However, that was months ago, so I have no idea if there have been any changes.

Town, on 56th St., b/t 5th & 6th Avs., serves excellent New American cuisine in a subterranean space that is drop-dead gorgeous! Though I wouldn't describe it as romantic, it does have a celebratory feel. Menu and photos on the website.
