One treat a day for the rest of your life?

My sister-in-law, Ashley, posed this question last night: what would you choose if you could choose one treat to have every day for the rest of your life and cost/calories/accessibility/consequences weren't factors? She said she would choose the oatmeal raisin cookie from her local bakery or maybe fresh peaches over ice cream with my mom's caramel sauce. I'm still trying to decide...

I would have to say cheese as well. Most things are bearable in the world if you can relax with some cheese.

      1. re: xena

To me, cheese is not a treat. It is a staple. Why limit myself to once a day?

        1. re: mojoeater

Oh. I didn't read the question like that. We could only have it once a day? I'd change my answer then if that's the cast.

        2. Ice cream (as long as I got to vary the flavors). If I had to pick one flavor then it would be one that a local ice cream shop makes (ebony chocolate ice cream with english toffee pieceds).

          1. Ice cream - but only if I could vary flavors - not sure I could settle on one. If I can't vary flavors, then chocolate chip cookies.

            Fun to think about!

            1. Hot, moist brownie topped by vanilla ice cream and hot fudge; aka Brownie à la mode. You've got the warm, the cold, and a few textures going on.

But if I were to pick one category, and not just a particular treat, then it would have to be cheese.

Sweet treat: Brownie a la mode.

Other things I'd consider would be cheese or beer.

                1. re: Agent Orange

That's my choice, too! With or without the hot fudge. Brownies with vanilla ice cream is one favorite things to eat, and the first thing that came to mind when I read this question.

                2. strawberry shortcake

only freshly whipped cream thank you
                  lemon pound cake; not plain
and REAL strawberries...not those god awful imposters

                  1. No question there - really good chocolate! Mmmmm... (my other favourite treat is icecream, but I'd have to have different flavours each week so I didn't get tired of it.)

                    1. champagne truffles from teuscher.

                        Almond truffles from teuscher!

                      2. A large crystal snifter, 1/3 full of the finest cognac known to mankind.

                        1. Wow. That's a tough question. My first reaction was chocolate, but the I considered that I love good chocolate in moderation. I don't think I want to eat it every day in such bulk that I need to worry about consequences.

With that in mind, still hard! Either really good bread or really good ice cream. Probably ice cream. Like others, I'm hoping we don't have to pick one ice cream flavor. I would be torn among peach, strawberry, cinnamon, hazelnut, and pistachio.

I would choose a banana with a large dollop of natural peanut butter I absolutely love the stuff and could eat it every day!

                            1. re: debbiel

One square of rich 70%-80% dark chocolate. I have it almost every day anyway. Like right now!

                            2. Something involving chocolate and peanut butter.

For me, just peanut butter, period. Over the course of many years of polling, I have come to believe that peanut butter is primarily loved by a) Americans and b) women. If you fit into both categories, you probably love it. If you fit into one or the other, you probably like it. If you fit into neither, you probably find it rather silly as food obsessions go. Do you all agree?

                                1. re: tatamagouche

For me peanut butter is not a treat, it's a necessity! I swear I go through withdrawals when I run out. A spoonful of Jif's creamy reduced fat peanut butter is my bedtime snack. They stopped carrying it at my favorite store, and I threw a fit! I was practically in tears, after not finding it 3 trips in a row. Now it's back! My DH loves it as well, but he is a bit on the feminine side! ;-)

                              2. Red wine, just for the health benefits. Well, not just for that...

                                1. The dessert table at the Bellagio buffet in Vegas.

                                  :-)

This is my answer as well :P

                                  2. Tortilla chips with salsa or guac if that's allowed. Every day...yippee!

                                    1. a perfect chocolate covered strawberry

Perhaps like one I remember getting from a small sweet shop in Chatham... that was triple dipped ... white chocolate, then milk chocolate, then dark chocolate. All in one.

                                            1. re: stopurmakingmehungry

Definitely nachos. Broiled with burned edges of stretchy gooey cheese.

                                          1. After reading all the replies I would have to say :
Day 1 - baked stuffed lobster
                                            Day 2 - eggplant parmigiano
Day 3 - oysters on the 1/2 shell from anywhere
                                            Day 4 - roast pheasant
                                            Day 5 - roast duck
                                            Day 6 - roast goose
                                            Day 7 - zabaglione
Return to Day one..... all accompanied by Dom Perignon 1998... ad infinitum.

( You didn't say it had to be the *same* treat.)

                                            1. dark, rich, pho. raw beef and tons of thai basi and lime.

                                              1. ice cream

                                                **insert Homer drooling noise**

                                                1. This is a really tough question. Since cost & calories aren't a consideration, I have narrowed it down to a short list of:

                                                  - seared foie gras from France
                                                  - an aged Balsamic from Modena
                                                  - frites fried in duck fat
                                                  - a croissaint from Keyser's
                                                  - a cheese should be on this list but I can't narrow it down.

For me, it would be between:
                                                    - Good chocolate
                                                    - Live Maine lobster (yes, I COULD eat it every day!!!)

                                                      2. Duck fat fries with aioli.
                                                      3. Cold chocolate cake, sans frosting...
                                                      4. Caramel sauce. yup, just the sauce and a spoon...
                                                      5. Bacon!
                                                      6. Goat cheese on crostini made from Standard Baking Co's Seeded Whole Wheat or Levain...
                                                      7. Clementines

                                                    2. Toss up between the very best chocolate, and a piece of warm fresh baked Sourdough bread from San Francisco with French butter

                                                      1. Movie Theater Popcorn.....yum!!

I'll try anything once, and there are so many different types, and costs, that it would be heaven to eat my way through all of them. Even if I had to suffer through some not so good ones, well, it would be worth it. Oh, and bring me a complimentary glass of wine for each cheese too, please. I just can't narrow it down to one type of cheese because I haven't tasted them all yet!

A large(5 oz.) snifter of Don Julio 1942 Anejo Tequila each night after work. Since this tequila is typically over $100 a bottle, and $15-$25 a glass when I am out drinking I rarely endulge, but I have on occasion, and it is my favorite
