One treat a day for the rest of your life?
My sister-in-law, Ashley, posed this question last night: what would you choose if you could choose one treat to have every day for the rest of your life and cost/calories/accessibility/consequences weren't factors? She said she would choose the oatmeal raisin cookie from her local bakery or maybe fresh peaches over ice cream with my mom's caramel sauce. I'm still trying to decide...

Since we eat pretty well(lots of prime beef, dry aged beef, bbq, crab, lobster, as well as going out to eat a couple times a week), I would choose the following daily treat.
A large(5 oz.) snifter of Don Julio 1942 Anejo Tequila each night after work. Since this tequila is typically over $100 a bottle, and $15-$25 a glass when I am out drinking I rarely endulge, but I have on occasion, and it is my favorite

I dream of a world where some cheesemonger brings me a different cheese, every day, so that I can try them all! I'll try anything once, and there are so many different types, and costs, that it would be heaven to eat my way through all of them. Even if I had to suffer through some not so good ones, well, it would be worth it. Oh, and bring me a complimentary glass of wine for each cheese too, please. I just can't narrow it down to one type of cheese because I haven't tasted them all yet!

This is a really tough question. Since cost & calories aren't a consideration, I have narrowed it down to a short list of:
- seared foie gras from France
- an aged Balsamic from Modena
- frites fried in duck fat
- a croissaint from Keyser's
- a cheese should be on this list but I can't narrow it down.›2 Replies-

mmm...duck fat....can't beat fries cooked in duck fat!
One treat? For the rest of my life? Contenders:
1. Champagne(and someone to share it with-is that asking too much???).
2. Duck fat fries with aioli.
3. Cold chocolate cake, sans frosting...
4. Caramel sauce. yup, just the sauce and a spoon...
5. Bacon!
6. Goat cheese on crostini made from Standard Baking Co's Seeded Whole Wheat or Levain...
7. Clementines

After reading all the replies I would have to say :
Day 1 - baked stuffed lobster
Day 2 - eggplant parmigiano
Day 3 - oysters on the 1/2 shell from anywhere
Day 4 - roast pheasant
Day 5 - roast duck
Day 6 - roast goose
Day 7 - zabaglione
Return to Day one..... all accompanied by Dom Perignon 1998... ad infinitum.( You didn't say it had to be the *same* treat.)

re: revsharkie
For me, just peanut butter, period. Over the course of many years of polling, I have come to believe that peanut butter is primarily loved by a) Americans and b) women. If you fit into both categories, you probably love it. If you fit into one or the other, you probably like it. If you fit into neither, you probably find it rather silly as food obsessions go. Do you all agree?

re: tatamagouche
For me peanut butter is not a treat, it's a necessity! I swear I go through withdrawals when I run out. A spoonful of Jif's creamy reduced fat peanut butter is my bedtime snack. They stopped carrying it at my favorite store, and I threw a fit! I was practically in tears, after not finding it 3 trips in a row. Now it's back! My DH loves it as well, but he is a bit on the feminine side! ;-)

Wow. That's a tough question. My first reaction was chocolate, but the I considered that I love good chocolate in moderation. I don't think I want to eat it every day in such bulk that I need to worry about consequences.
With that in mind, still hard! Either really good bread or really good ice cream. Probably ice cream. Like others, I'm hoping we don't have to pick one ice cream flavor. I would be torn among peach, strawberry, cinnamon, hazelnut, and pistachio.

Hot, moist brownie topped by vanilla ice cream and hot fudge; aka Brownie à la mode. You've got the warm, the cold, and a few textures going on.
But if I were to pick one category, and not just a particular treat, then it would have to be cheese.
