Where to get good olive oil in/near Athens, GA?

Where can I get some good olive oil in or close to Athens that doesn't cost a ton? I'm sure EarthFare has some great stuff, but it's overpriced. I saw some for sale at The Sultan on Atlanta Hwy last week -- is this alright? I don't remember the brand. Are there other restaurant/market's around that might have some good, cheap stuff in a big canister?

Thanks.

except for the cost a ton part, there is the Tuscan Market on Baxter. I was overjoyed to find a bottle of Zapfiro that I've been nursing along... nice peppery finish.

If there's a T. J. Maxx (yeah, I know) in your area, see if they have Romulo unfiltered. Next time you get down to Atlanta, go to the Dekalb Farmers Market and check out their selection (of everything!) Just make sure you have a few hours to spend and take a big car -- you'll need the room for your haul.

Dekalb Farmers Market is mecca! Wouldn't that be a great place for a pbs documentary?!

Still don't understand why they don't let you take cameras in there...

A few weeks ago I caught part of a show on PBS which highlighted the Dekalb Farmers Market. No idea what it was called, but they were looking at different farmers markets across the US. Also had a bit about Asheville & Baltimore. This was on NC PBS if that helps. Sorry I don't have more info!

Oh, Dekalb really was shown to ful advantage!

We love the Dekalb Farmer's Market -- but hate driving to Atlanta!

Big Lots is a good place to find inexpensive, but decent quality olive oil for every day use.

both them and Tuesday Morning have some great deals on close outs and such. I highly recommend shopping at both when ever possible for some real finds.

i'd just go to the kroger, they have an adequate selection for home cooking.

I agree with batdown -- I even buy Kroger's brand sometimes -- for daily use, Kroger has anything you could need. My S/O and I tried a blind tasting one night (okay after a little wine :)) and we both thought their basic extra virgin cold pressed olive oil it was fruity, fragrant, and wonderful on bread. I should say...I've only recently quit smoking so maybe I'm missing some subtle nuances in the oils but I doubt it could be that big a deal. Imagine being an italian with a grove of trees .....would you scoff at your own oil simply because it's easy to get?
