Good dinner in Salem, SC area

JoBear Aug 10, 2007 11:26 AM

Hi All,

Never been to the area, but will be staying in Salem, SC for a long weekend. Any "must-eat" places for dinner? Not looking for over-the-top fancy, but just really good food that represents the region. Thanks!

Are you sure you are going to Salem, South Carolina? Could you mean Winston-Salem, North Carolina?

There is nothing close to Salem, SC. You are about 20 minutes from Clemson. That's your closest city unless the Cliffs at Keowee has a restaurant.

Sorry, I have never heard of Salem, SC, and couldn't even find it on my map! lol Unfortunately, I've never been to Clemson, so I can't be of much help...I'm sure others can be, though...

Acropolis is a Greek resturant in Clemson that gets good reviews.

Salem is one of the nastiest bumps in the road ever, but Lake Keowee says it is in Salem (it really isn't). Seneca/Clemson are down the road a bit. Calhoun Corners and Pixie and Bill's in Clemson are outstanding. Chophouse 311 on Ram Cat Alley in Seneca is very good. The developer of the Cliffs' communities just opened Keowee Market up on Highway 11. It has a hot bar, salad bar and made to order foods. Very good. Also, Victoria Vineyards in Cleveland (behind Aunt Sue's on Highway 11) also serves good fare and has a lovely setting.
