A new honey cake for the New Year?

I'm always disappointed by traditional honey cake for the Jewish New Year. Can anyone can recommend a good place to buy honey cake that isn't made in the traditional manner or that is -- but adds an extra kick (cranberries, orange zest, candied ginger or some other alternative)?

Ok, unfortunately I'm from the Chicago area so I can't help you too much there :(. I do have orthdox family in New Jersey though; if I get a chance I'll ask them what's good!

Oh my goodness....Rosh Hashanah is fastly approaching, isnt it? Wow time flies. Where are you from (so people can figure out which places to reccommend)?

I live in Manhattan, but I am interested in learning about bakeries (or other stores, restaurants, etc.) anywhere in the New York area.
