A new honey cake for the New Year?

I'm always disappointed by traditional honey cake for the Jewish New Year. Can anyone can recommend a good place to buy honey cake that isn't made in the traditional manner or that is -- but adds an extra kick (cranberries, orange zest, candied ginger or some other alternative)?

    1. re: Chew on That

I live in Manhattan, but I am interested in learning about bakeries (or other stores, restaurants, etc.) anywhere in the New York area.
