Question about sleeah recipe (split from SF Board)

I am currently trying to transcribe my husband's grandmother's recipes, and one is for sleeah. I came here looking for help in figuring out the recipe, I can tell you the ingredients include, whole wheat, sugar, walnuts, raisins, anise seed and pomegranite. I am wondering about the whole wheat, it is not burghul as she always says Burgul in all of her recipies that include that. What could she mean by whole wheat??

  1. I think it is what is commonly sold as wheat berries. Whole wheat, the grain.
