Fried Chicken Craving!

I developed a serious craving for fried chicken after watching Bobby Flay's Throwdown last night. Went to Popeye's for a quick fix, but I'm sure there must be better fried chicken makers out there. Suggestions? Thanks.

Will definitely try Mary Browns. Thanks a bunch. Now I'm just gonna try to finish up the leftover pieces from the Popeyes takeout in the fridge... :)

I feel your pain pickymama - the first time that episode aired, I went on a search and did a comparison of Chick'n'Joy (which had a write up in Toronto Life's Take Out Edition) and bought some KFC (Kentucky - not Korean) and was VERY disappointed - Chick'n'Joy was drier than KFC and the seasonings tasted almost identical!

If you like Popeye's spicy version, it sounds like the Korean might be a good option.

I know that I am going to give it a try! It might solve my Fried Chicken Cravings AND my yearning for good Kara age (Japanese style spicy fried chicken)

the best mary browns is the one in oshawa, near the oshawa town centre. interestingly, they're run by koreans. :)

Thanks for the info. Haven't tried Korean fried chicken before. What's the difference between this kind and the traditional buttermilk kind?

Did you read that thread I linked to?
We kind of mentioned what the difference might be... maybe different batter, cooking method and the sauce...

Alberts Real Jamaican Food on St Clair at Vaughn used to have fabulous fried chicken - great flavour, crispy, not greasy and very juicy. It's great with rice and peas and some oxtail gravy....

On Queen St. E., Chick N' Joy is great. Or Cajun Corner for Louisiana style.

It's been discussed on this board before, I think... but what about Ajuker Fried Chicken on Bloor east of Christie? You can have it either 'naked' or with a delicious sticky salty-sweet-spicy Korean sauce. Cheap too!

                  i like deepcreek's suggestion of Ajuker, but i don't agree that it's cheap :D !

I've heard that Mary Bown's is the best chain wise, but other than that I'm not sure.

Popeye's - the one on Overlea is Halal & it's great. Pick up the potato thingy from Bamiyan next door (Afghan) and you have a perfect meal.
