Guerneville, CA

Hi All -

Spending a few days up in Guerneville, CA (near Healdsburg and north of Occidental) over Labor Day with my in-laws and was looking for two recommendations.

First, any dinner spots worth hitting. Mid-range to fancy, good cuisine and atmosphere. I know about most of the ones over in Napa but I am trying to avoid the 45 minute drive on windy roads at night. And, I don't know the Guerneville surrounding area as well. Willing to drive north, south, east or west - just would love places within 30 minutes or so.

Second, looking for some cool casual lunch spots to grab sandwiches on the run or to have something a bit more substantial. We obviously love Oakville grocery in Healdsburg and will make sure to hit that - but looking for some other recommendation in some of the surrounding towns. Thanks much!

Re: canards recommendation of the deli at Korbel, my opinion is that that particular deli is a bit overhyped and overpriced, but it has been a year or so since I've been. YMMV

Also let me recommend Underwood and Willow Wood in Graton for ubertasty eats as well. You can do a search on the SF Board for both of them to find reviews, etc. Feeling like a visit to the coast? There are great places near and around the Bodega area for snacks to grab for a picnic on the beach.

You'll have a great time. Sonoma county this time of year is terrific, gorgous and tasty. (okay, any time of year...but I'm just a love-struck local so take that for what it is worth. Heh.

Is Zazu within 30 minutes? You drive through Forestville and turn onto Guerneville Road, but you don't need to go into Santa Rosa. --PR
