Wendy's: Anyone Tried "The Baconator"?

Tried it tonight. It was smaller than I expected, which meant I actually ate the whole thing. True that the bacon was not crispy. It was more melded to the American cheese than anything. Mine was kinda dry. I was in a hurry or I would have asked for lettuce and tomato.

I think it's OK. It would be better with BBQ sauce.

I tried it the other night when nothing else was open. It tasted fine. Not worth the price charged. Would have like it better with onion and pickle and tomato.

OK, I just had a Baconator. Not bad, bacon not as crispy as I'd like -- you'd probably have to eat it at the counter for the bacon to still be crispy -- and not so cheap at $4.49. I forgot to ask for the free let/tom. 8>(

jfood agrees, vini, vidi, eati. Been there, done that and for >$5 with tax, better burgers are elsewhere.

If you go back, just get three of the bacon cheeseburgers from the cheap menu and toss some of the bread. It'll taste the same and cost less...

I hate the commercial but every time my husband sees it he wants to run out to Wendy's to try it.

I don't know if they still have it but when they unveiled the jalapeno burger a few months ago they also had a bacon and cheddar burger, again another fav of the hubby. If he could have the Baconator with the cheddar I think he'd be in heaven.

I tried it because there was a coupon for the Baconator in my local fish wrap.

I liked it so much I bought another one without the benefit of a coupon.

It is the 99¢ Menu item-bacon cheeseburger- doubled up, so less bread, no lettuce and tomato. The Double and Triple cheese burgers are the 99¢ "Cheeseburger Deluxe" doubled or tripled up...less bread than buying two or three of them.

I have only bought off the 99¢ Menu since 2001. ( It is $1.29 for most items now...but I still call it the 99¢ Menu), I only tried it because I had a coupon making it less expensive. It is good.

Wendys claims that it is two 1/4 pound burgers,i.e. the "classic double",plus the bacon and minus the salad.That would be considerably bigger than two of the "junior bacon cheeseburgers" that they sell on the value menu.

try doing that at McD's: what's a tomato? they only recently added those to their permanent menu.

jfood tried one (i spite of the stupid commercial) and liked it. But as they stated on Top Chef last night, you want to sell something add bacon. But when he told the family he was starved and stopped between meetings for one all he heard was "eeeewww!!!"

I would tell you it sucks, but based on the few bites I had it was great. My boyfriend and his friends all got em on a late night quest for drunk munchies...so maybe my assessment isnt valid at all, but I mean...I dont even like bacon and I liked it! :P
