Birthday Drinks and Food

I'm looking for a fun place to celebrate my birthday on Saturday night! Ideally, I want to stay in the Santa Monica/Venice/Culver city area and we will be a group of about ten people. Many of my friends are on a budget and can't spend a lot of money. I wanted to go to Rustic Canyon but it's too expensive for some of the guests and I'm afraid it will be too noisy. I also love the outdoor bar and patio and Wilshire, but again, I think it will be too expensive and fancy. I also don't want to go to a dive bar (did that last year) but am not looking for anything fancy. Library Ale House came to mind, but I go there all the time and I'm afraid it will be too crowded on a Saturday night. I would love a place like Cafe Boogaloo, but it's too far away for some of my friends to get to. Just looking for a good place to sit and drink (and maybe eat) for a long time where we can actually hear each other talk! Thanks so much for your suggestions!

  1. beechwood has a great patio and yummy eats.

    1. Musha in Santa Monica has great Japanese pub food, is lots of fun and is reasonably priced. Definitely not fancy. They also have a private room that may fit your group.
Although I haven't tried it yet, Warsawa in Santa Monica gets good reviews on this board and I understand it's reasonably priced as well.

      1. Thanks for the suggestions!! I lived in Venice for years and actually have never been to Beechwood. I read a lot of posts about Musha and have never been there, either.

        1. I saw this place called Montana Lounge on Montana Ave in Santa Monica. It is just drinks and bar food and very cool looking--could be perfect.

Closed now. It was just a stand-in place to transfer the ABC license and sell the place to a different conglomerate. A new place will be going in there but I think they're pretty far from opening.

          2. Second Warzawa

            World Cafe on Main
