RW - Il Mulino

Had lunch there today and was VERY disappointed. The menus choice was extremely limited. We had the choice of two salads for first course, a few pastas plus three Pizzettes for the escond choice and choice of two desserts. Service was friendly but also very slooow. My salad was ok, my parpadelle w/sausage was over cooked and my Tiramisu was good. That's just one of three and I ordinarily never order Tiramisu - the other choice was cheese cake. I do not recommend Il Mulino for RW.

I am surprised to hear that. I had a great experience Monday night. The service was very attentive to our needs. My friends and I had very much enjoyed the food.

The first course had different choices for dinner than lunch. The parpadelle was cooked by waiters so it could have been the wait staff who cooked it as compared to the chef. My friend had it and enjoyed it that evening. I enjoyed the pollo fra diavolo. They were willing to adjust items on the menu to accommodate dietary restrictions which many restaurants will not do during restaurant week or will give you attitude for asking.

In comparison to some of the other performances I have seen over the past few restaurant weeks (which I usually attend at least 4-5 restaurants during each restaurant week), I would highly rate Il Mulino's restaurant week performance. My friends and I were greatly impressed by the restaurant and would return for a special occasion and recommend it to others.

What do you mean the parpadelle was cooked by waiters? Do you mean table side? What was the preperation? I am strangly amused by table side preps lol

there was no sign that the parpadelle was cooked, sauced or otherwise prepared in the dining. my plate came out of the kitchen along with several salads for the table next to mine. it really was a mediocre dish and not carefully prepared.

I also think Tom Sietsema doesn't recommend Il Mulino for regular service either. :( Which kind of disappointed me because I was going to try it out for a special occassion but had only heard mediocre things and didn't want to take the risk. Too bad.
