Saturday Lunch Downtown Boston Area

My husband and I will be walking around Boston on a Saturday in a few weeks (he'll be showing me all of the old haunts, workplaces, etc.) and we expect to be in the downtown area around lunchtime. What's chow-worthy that will be open on a Saturday? We'd like to have something light as we plan on having dinner in the North End. Thanks!

If you're in the back bay/newbury st (where the majority of the shopping is), I like Parish Cafe on Boylston for sandwiches is a good option, I also like the Other Side Cafe (but it's not for everyone).

There are a couple of spots on Tremont in the South End that do a great job at lunch too (Pops and Aquitaine come to mind)

Yes, the Parish Cafe is a lovely spot with outdoor tables. Each sandwich was created by a different Boston chef. I also like the Other Side, and agree it's not for everyone. It's less of a foodie place, and more of coffeehouse for hippy-hipsters (with food).

I'm fairly certain Sultan's Kitchen is open on Saturdays. You could split the meze plate and maybe another small item. That would be a good light lunch.
