Complicated Russian (chocolate) meringue cake - St. Basil's ?
There was a great little Russian bakery/restaurant on east 86th St. in Manhattan years ago (The Pie?) that made this amazing meringue-based cake. Tall, complex, with layers of meringue (crispy and softer) and ganache and chocolate meringue and filling. Had a shape that looked like a Russian church - with minarets made of meringue. I can't remember the name of the cake - something like St. Basil's or St. Emil's. I've looked everywhere for a recipe and cannot find it mentioned anywhere. I'd settle for a place that sold it in the city or nearby. Help!
