anniversary on the northshore

my wife and i live in mlps/stp and we are celebrating our first wedding anniversary in two harbors, mn... does anyone have a good recommendation for eats up hear?

i second the new scenic cafe. it's a delightful drive and excellent food.

The Coho Cafe in Tofte (north from Two Harbors) has great food and serves not only interesting options for breakfast, but also do some great things for dinner and have a pretty good wine list. It is right by Bluefin Bay.

A friend of mine was just telling me about another place near the New Scenic Cafe: Nokomis Restaurant, Bar & Wineshop. This friend of mine is a huge fan of the New Scenic, and I have to agree it's fantastic, but he claims the Nokomis is even better. Happy anniversary!

Congratulations on your first anniversary!

Just got back from a trip to Two Harbors. Not much there if you don't like fast food or chains. I ended up getting some smoked fish and cheese from Super One (Lou's was closed) and we sat by the shore and ate. Yeah, it was more about the view than the chow. Blackwoods is okay for bar food. I found that Kamloops in Superior Shores seemed, kind of "eh." Nice service, though. If you're staying at one of the local resorts, you could let the restaurant know that it's your 1st anniversary and they make it worth your while. I have to say that more often than not, the staff at the places up the shore have been really, really nice people.

Right in 2 Harbors there's not much for dinner...I would highly recommend the Vanilla Bean Cafe in 2 Harbors for bkfst, though.

Betty's Pies for pie and not much else

If you feel like driving the 90 minutes or so it takes to get up to Grand Marais, I would say that the Angry Trout and especially the Gunflint Tavern are 2 of the top 3 North Shore restaurants.

For my money, the New Scenic Cafe, technically in Duluth, is the best L&D destination on the shore. It's probably a 20-30 minute drive back towards town from 2 Harbors...here's the website:

Congrats on your anniversary. I second the recommendation for Angry Trout, but, I have to say, I was a bit disappointed by Betty's Pies. Also, there's a really cute looking place across from Angry Trout called Chez Jude that looks adorable (romantic, even) and like it might have chowish potential.

EDIT: also , if you click on the link for Angry Trout Cafe that will take you to the "wiki" for Angry Trout. There's another recent thread that is linked into that wiki probably has some other good ideas for Two Harbors.
