where, oh where has my butcher gone?

It's been two months since my local butcher shop closed (Kurowycky's on First ave) and I have been trying to deal with Whole Foods, but the prices are killing me - Chinatown is great for everything else, but the only beef I am going to find there is flank steak. Where to you go to get a decent cut of meat in the LES/East Village?

There's a wonderful old-fashioned butcher shop called Pino's on (I think) MacDougal (or Sullivan) just below Houston. much better place for meat pricewise than Whole Foods. Both Pino and his son are very knowledgeable and helpful.

Hello - I posted a similar question last week since I've just moved to the neighborhood. There were a few good grocery suggestions, but it doesn't look like you'll have your butcher replacement closer than the essex st market.
