Good food near the Hilton New York?

Hi all,

I'll be in NY for business soon and I'm wondering whether you can give suggestions for good, relatively inexpensive meals near the Hilton. I've been looking at the some past posts but it's hard to tell what's within reasonable walking distance of this particular hotel... I will have to be able to walk everywhere, so any place right around there is great!

Thanks so much in advance!

    1. Is that the hotel that is on 6th Ave and the low 50s? If so, your best bet might be to walk over to 9th Avenue. Plenty of choices over there in the reasonably-priced category (and they always turn up on this board if you search 9th Ave).

      1. This thread has lots of recommendations in that area:

You'll be right across the street from the much-hyped Halal food cart. They open up around 7:30 pm, have a long line already at that point, and go all night long. $5 for lamb, chicken, rice, and a smidge of salad.

Ditto LNG212's recommendation of Hell's Kitchen. There are loads of reasonably priced options out there, and it's a reasonable walk from where you're staying.

        1. Treat yourself to a gelato from the cart in front of Osteria del Circo, on 55th between 6th & 7th, extremely close to the Hilton. It's a high-end restaurant, but gelato from the cart is a deal ($3/4/5).

It's a good neighborhood for Japanese. In the affordable department there's Menchanko-Tei and Men Kui Tei for noodles, and Yakitori Totto. Angelo's makes passably good NY pizza--not in league with the legends, but right in the neighborhood.

Wu Liang Ye for Sichuan food, though not a great option if you're solo.
