Breakfast UWS

Looking for a cheap, simple breakfast place on the UWS that has both sweet and savory options. Want to avoid the obvious - already know about Sarabeth's and all the basic brunch places in that area. What I'm looking for is a breakfast place that may be a hole in the wall but has a fantastic taste and decent selection. Also, unexpected places would be great - maybe a Mexican place that has killer huevos rancheros? Excellent omelettes are a plus. Thanks!

For a nice selection, minus the UWS brunch mayhem, try Neptune Room on Amsterdam. They have both breakfast & lunch options, and some unusual choices featuring seafood. The atmosphere is a bit more polished than the rest of the neighborhood brunch spots.

Also don't forget Barney Greengrass -- not a hole in the wall, but very retro and very serious about smoked fish.
