Aigre Doux or one sixtyblue?

hi there

we'll be in Chicago this coming weekend and have made reservations at both Aigre Doux and one sixtyblue for Friday night. I'm trying to decide between the two and thought I'd ask for some advice. I've already searched the boards on what people have to say and most people are pretty positive about the food and their experiences at both restos, so I'm having a hard time making a decision.

To give you a frame of reference, we're from NYC, but I used to live in Chi-town and one of my favorite places is Blackbird. We'll be eating at Alinea on Saturday night so for Friday we want something a bit more low key, but still fantastic food and atmosphere. We'll be a party of three.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice!

May I throw another wrinkle into things? What about Blackbird versus one sixtyblue?

That's another "excellent vs excellent" decision.

Aigre Doux! I went a few weeks back and the food was great...not to mention, it was a low-key experience.

i haven't been to either one (heard great things) but if you're fav place was blackbird, you should consider trying avec. it's right next door..same owners..blackbird's old chef (i'm pretty sure) who i went to high school with noless..anyway, delicious.

I'm more of a Aigre Doux guy. One Sixty Blue was good but not spectacular on my last visit, and Doux seems to have a good energy going on, and I really love the food. Service was a little shaky, but friendly nonetheless.

Those three (including Blackbird) are my three favorite "casual fine dining" restaurants in the city, with fantastic food (one "wow dish" after another) and a wonderful experience in every way. I realize this doesn't help you make a decision, but they're just all terrific IMHO. Don't agonize too much over a decision with no bad choices; just pick either one and enjoy it!
