Babalu Grill

I am considering going to Bablu Grill this evening with friends. RW menu has dinner for $20 and complementary valet parking - might add up to be a nice cheap fun meal. I am a bit wary since no one in Baltimore ever seems to mention it. I know most people on this board wil not even begin to discuss Restaurant Row places, so I am going out on a limb hoping someone will respond....

I am not expecting 4 star cuisine, but do not want to be disappointed. Can anyone tell me their experiences here? Esp if it has been this week. Thanks!

If we do go, I'll be sure to report on our meal.

To answer the question Babalu is reliably good Cuban eats. The Ropa Vieja is tasty!(translates as "old clothes" but really its good)

It's okay Cuban, but the Powerplant Live location makes it less than atmospheric. I've never heard it referred to as Restaurant Row.

Restaurant Row is the self-given name of all of those restaurants in Harbor East. I am a subscriber of Baltimore Magazine & I suppose seeing the multipage ads months after month has worked.

I was thinking Babalu was there rather than Power Plant Live....

No, Restaurant Row refers to the bunch of restaurants at the Power Plant. (Babalu Grill, Blue Sea, Mex, Rams Head, etc.) It definitely does not refer to the restaurants in Harbor East (Oceanaire, Roys, James Joyce, etc.)
