Hi All
I am headed to 518 West for dinner and after looking over the menu, I cannot decide what to order! It all looks very good. Can you please tell me what your favorite menu items are...

I love the pasta dish with the crab and bacon. I think it's called the Big Crab or something. It's very big and filling, mind you. Everyone always likes the Lemon Linguine.

If my memory serves, the calamari is good. The salads are nice as well.

There are usually some nice specials.

My favorite is the whole wheat pasta with chicken. They have lots of good items, though including the crab pasta and the lemon linguine listed above.

I'm a simple gal...I adore their pasta primavera. I've also just asked the kitchen for angel hair dressed with olive oil and cheese, when I'm in that mood, and it's been wonderful.

Thanks for all of your help! Two people ordered the Crab, I had the Eggplant Penne & our fourth party had the eggplant parm special. Everything was very good (I tried it all) and I can't wait to go back to try some more of your suggestions!

We always try and get the specials. Fish special has always been amazing. If nothing on specials menu tickles your fancy, crab with paperdelle and even simple spaghetti with meat balls are quite wonderful.

I think "The crab" pasta dish is the best item on the menu, but you have to be in the mood for something rich and heavy. The pizzas are also terrific, because as with any good pizza, it's all in the dough. The desserts, especially their homemade ice cream sandwich, is not to be missed.

I have been going to 518 since it opened two weeks after I moved here (Fall 1996), and I have never had a bad meal there (I used to work down the street). I can't think of another restaurant I can say that about, especially one where I've eaten at least 100 times.

I have to agree with ediblerock about that. I've never had a bad meal there and used to go weekly. Sometimes a meal doesn't hit the mark exactly or wasn't as good as others but I've never had anything bad and that includes eating a lot of the weekly specials. I think 518 is a great spot that doesn't always get the praise it deserves here.
