Islamorada "Chesapeake Restaurant"

Years ago we stopped at the Chesapeake Restaurant on our way to the Keys and enjoyed some of the best seafood dishes we've ever had. Time flies and the restaurant is gone. Does anyone know whether someone tore it down and then rebuilt and renamed the place?

Also, we went to a restaurant near Coconut Grove that was on the Bay and had outdoor seating in the rear with a band and dancing. We loved that place, too.

Tell me they've just been revamped somewhere else, bigger and better and we can still go there.

  1. I grew up in Homestead and the Chesapeake was my family's special event restaurant. I believe it had deteriorated quite a bit before Hurricane Andrew took it out a decade or so ago.

The Chesapeake was my Aunt's and Uncle's Baur's restaurant, they sold it to sombody who called it The Whale Harbor Inn. After that no idea .
