In/Near Cromwell CT
Staying in Cromwell tomorrow....looking for something wonderful to bring back to the hotel....anything that's can't miss. I usually get Bahn Mi in West Hartford, but I'd rather not go up that far and back down to Cromwell....I'll be heading North from NYC.
What's cooking in Ct these days?

I used to live in Cromwell and unless something has drastically changed, agreed you won't find much. Middletown is just 10 minutes from Cromwell, though. I thought the sushi restaurant in Middletown, Mikado was pretty decent, I would get takeout from them all the time. But for something not ethnic, goodbyeohio's rec may be the way to go. :)
Or, if you don't mind a detour on your way north, you could take 95 past 91N and go along the CT shoreline. In Branford there is Darbar (stellar Indian food); if you have a little more time than that, head over to Madison, CT and stop off at Lenny & Joe's on Rte 1 for some casual Shoreline seafood, and then back-road it up to Middletown/Cromwell via 79N to 17N to 9N.

drop into eli cannon's in middletown.. one exit south of cromwell on rt 9. it's a craft beer bar, but they have some pretty inventive cajun cuisine and also serve some classic comfort food- daily specials too.. and more pedestrian stuff like . everything is available for takeout and while you wait you can sip on a pint of microbrew.
ps: the menuS on the website is completely outdated.. by a few years!

Honestly, I don't think there is anything in Cromwell...it's one of those towns you drive through...Middletown may be closer to you than West Hartford...just down Rt 9, Middletown center...Little Tibet is good...I've eaten there alone and the staff makes you feel very welcome..
