Tomorrow is the oyster festival at Grand Central Oyster bar - $1.25
Next weekend is the one downtown near Goldman building during the day on Saturday too.

Lure has a good happy hour for oysters. Also Essex on Tuesday nights maybe (LES) -- although it can be hit or miss

Ohh! Lure Fish Bar in SoHo was pretty nice. I went there with my boyfriend during restaurant in NYC and I am definately going again! Worth a try! I'm not sure about inexpensive though.

If happy hour counts then PJ Clark at the World Financial Center (only this branch, not the one in Midtown) has happy hour special Mon - Fri 4 - 7 pm with $1 oyster and 50cents for oyster of the day. I wouldn't say it is top notch quality but it is decent and at this price point it is an absolute bargain!

the essex house has $1 oyster for happy hour on Thursdays I believe. I am too lazy right now to google it. But they are good and 1/2 price drinks. Yummy!

McKormick and Schmicks in midtown has the cheapest happy hour raw bar in the city.

Just went to Lure last night for the happy hour. Great deals! They have selected items from the bar menu and a few drinks for $6. House wine is $5. Oysters and clams are $1. Think you can find the bar menu on their website.

Fish on Bleeker has a special (seems like at all times): $8 gets you 6 blue points or clams (little neck or cherrystone) + a glass of wine or beer. It's a great deal. The rest of the food is eh, but this special I enjoy often. Atmosphere is Montauk-y.

another even better happy hour raw bar bargain is at MCCORMICK & SCHMICKS chain in midtown.

the FISH happy hour goes until 8pm I believe, the oysters i've had there have been ok, they're definitely what you pay for (gulf I believe)

all of their raw oysters are around a buck and various soup, barfood etc. they have a whole seperate and fairly extensive happy hour menu. beer too of course.

best raw bar bargain in the city -- if you dont mind the bland chain setting.

another very interesting thing is that after the traditional happy hours are over it repeats again at 10pm.

that and FISH are my raw bar happy hour go to's re price and good quality.

yeah, the oyster special for $8, inc a drink, is good value! i've always had decent quality oysters, and there's freshly grated horseradish amongst the several condiments, which, for me, is a good thing! i usually get a glass of the white wine, which is whatever the house wine they are pouring is - unfortunately usually a fairly big chardonnay.

saw some places around front/fulton street and around that looked pretty good and reasonable.

In the city or Brooklyn? I usually leave the Front Street area to eat fish. Sad, because this is the historic seaport area. Fulton Street has virtually no edible restaurants except maybe Benny's Thai and Country Kebab.
