Not to my way of thinking, but it's like when asked why he wanted to climb Mt. Everest. George Leigh Mallory replied, "Because it is there". (of course he died in the attempt - the probable fate of anyone who attempts to conquer Mt. Manuel by themselves)

I'm not even sure it exists any longer but, before it's name was sold and franchised into corporate fast food blandness, the original GREEN BURRITO stand in Hawaiian Gardens was legendary amongst SoCal high school and college football players and coaches for its Big Ed Challenge. Their Big Ed Burrito was a 3.5 - 4 pound gutbuster the size of a rugby ball filled with carnitas, carne asada, rice, frijoles, lettuce, cheese, guacamole, pico de gallo and hot sauce. Eat three in under an hour and your prize was $300 cash plus complimentary Rolaids. A faded color xerox of the first woman to achieve the feat used to be displayed prominently at the original location which is now dubbed DON REUBEN.

You missed the gyoza eating contest at the 70th Annual Nisei Week Festival on Saturday, August 21st.
Joey Chestnut was a no show so the winner got a way with eating a measly 213 gyoza.
