The Hearth and Kettle restaurants are a great place to eat a variety of food with very reasonable prices. As locals, we go there often

Most locals I know avoid H&K. Washashores, however, seem to flock to them in droves. Can't really explain why, reminds me of the old Ho-Jos or Bickfords.

I like Kreme 'n Cone - there are a couple of locations in the cape..typical fried fare - super yummy.

Kreme 'n Cone in Dennisport has no connection to Kreme 'n Kone in Chatham.

I'll start with this assumption -- that food that is fairly priced but may be expensive is not what you'd like.

Then here are some places that serve basic New England style food to the locals. Now remember, the locals may not have sophisticated palates, but they do like simply-prepared seafood that is fresh and is inexpensive:

        The Dolphin in Barnstable Village
        Wimpy's in Osterville
Kettle Ho in Cotuit (especially for the stuffed quahog or fish special)

I'll second all three recs here.....all have stong local supporters. Add the Bee Hive in East Sandwich to the list (not terrific , but good basic fare and very reasonable priced)
