  1. OK, only one of the three is in Minneapolis proper but my go-to places are:

Franklin Halal Market at the corner of Franklin Avenue and Bloomington Avenue.

Beirut Restaurant on Robert Street in West St. Paul.

    Mediterranean Cruise Cafe in Eagan

    1. Shish on Grand Avenue in St. Paul has some good stuff.

      1. I really like the shawirma at the Holy Land. Especially with the spicy red sauce.

since we are loosely defining our meat, i suggest the black sea restaurant on snelling. Great turkish, one of the best restaurants in the area. It is in the gyro/shawarma vein.

        2. Marina Deli is fabulous and IMO much better than Holy Land.

          1. Pardon the interruption, folks, but in order to keep the Midwest board narrowly focused on where to find the best chow in Minneapolis and the rest of the Midwest, we've split a discussion regarding the difference between shawarma and gyros to the General Topics Board. Please continue that part of the discussion here: http://www.chowhound.com/topics/428395

            Thank you.

            1. Falafel King just opened their Bloomington brance on Lyndale. I haven't tried the shawarma, but if it's as good as their falafel and grape leaves, it's worth a visit. Keep in mind that I'm talking only about the Bloomington branch.
