Seafood in Santa Cruz - Trendy Atmosphere

scottrj12 Aug 3, 2007 09:15 AM

Hey Hounds,

I'm looking for a cool trendy spot in or close to Santa Cruz. I'm open to suggestions about any kind of food, but I would prefer seafood. Any help would be much appreciated, as Im from down South and Im not familiar with the area.

Thanks in advance!!!

I would go to Palapas in Aptos for a Mexican take on seafood. I have never been disappointed.

The only thing I would recommend at Palapas is the appetizer Camarones del Golfo ala Parilla, rather pricey at 14.95, iirc. My wife had a crab seafood enchilada that was inedible.

We have eaten at Cafe Cruz a couple of times and had good meals there.

Hula's Island Grill on Cathcart in downtown Santa Cruz is a casual, high energy, rather noisy restaurant that features good seafood, tropical drinks, and friendly waitstaff.

It's not fine dining, but it's certainly trendy.
