One more question: Pre theater

Here is the scenario: It is between 5 and 7 pm, midtown, pre-theater, hungry and in need of food to tie us over before late reservations. Thinking perhaps a slice of pizza or a sandwich or even some diner food with a grilled cheese. Something fast with no long table service but with good food. Does not have to be fancy and it can be unglamorous but just good and satisfying. It is meant to prevent hunger pains at 9:00 and to avoid bad snack bar food at the theater. Staying on W. 44th street near 5th avenue. Help me avoid a bad midtown tourist trap or even a bad snack.

    A pre-theater staple for me is Joe Allen, 326. W. 46th between 8th and 9th.
