What are some places with decent friday evening happy hours?

Preferably in the gallery place/metro center/dupont area....

PS7's. Although I haven't been for their happy hour, I hear it's great.
Also Matchbox (but might be tough to get a spot at the bar) or Ella's, although Ella's no longer does their free pizza, they have decent priced sangria and beer.

Best happy hour is the butcher board at restaurant kolumbia. I go almost every friday and its just a great move to have a bite to eat and some wine without filling up

Clyde's in Chevy Chase has all day happy hour prices on Sunday at the bar. I think they still run the happy hour specials on Saturdays too.

Also in Friendship Heights, Lia's does half priced wine on Sundays, in addition to their happy hour drinks, food, wine and beer from 5-7. They also have football Sunday specials.

PS7, PS7, PS7!! They have a great happy hour with a cheap lounge menu. Their patio is really perfect for the summertime...although today it might be a bit too sizzling to sit out there.

I highly recommend their tuna sliders. And their bread is enough to fill you up there. Really addictive. I'm almost positive they have Happy Hour on Friday but I would call to double check.

Gazuza in Dupont Circle has a good Happy Hour Monday-Friday. $5 or so for a good mojito and other drinks. And they have a small menu that includes various sushi rolls for a cheap price. Sit out on the great balcony. www.latinconcepts.com/gazuza

And then of course there is the best happy hour special in town at Taberna with 1/2 price tapas. Although I've only been Monday-Thursday so I don't know if it's available on Fridays. Someone else might know. You have to order everything before 7pm though.

Good luck with Matchbox. That place is PACKED on the weekends...especially during happy hour.

If you can't get in there, PS7 is just a short walk away. And the new Proof might have some sort of HH special...but that place is jumping now too.

PS7 makes my current favorite drinks. Their homemade sour mix makes everything so extraordinary. I could live off their gimlet, which makes every other gimlet pale in comparison. And that caramel corn...

Wait...they serve caramel corn?? Is that a dish or something for free with the drinks? When I went there was no caramel corn (although I wish there was!)

It's put out on the bar! It's obviously homemade and it is wonderful. And makes me drink more. They also have the little wonton crackers with sesame and poppyseeds, but I prefer the caramel corn.

Also, Oya has a good happy hour with drink specials and sushi specials, and it runs until 8, which is a very generous extra hour.

The happy hour at Grill Fish in Dupont is pretty good. I believe it is 4 to 7. Half price appetizers and half price drink specials...wine, beer and infused martini drinks. You have to sit at the bar to get the specials but it is a good deal and pretty easy to make a meal out of a couple of appetizers.
