La Petite France
Has anyone been there recently? I live in the area, but have never been there, and wanted to take my wife there for dinner this weekend?
It's a nice little place for a casual (weeknight?) dinner. We were there a couple of months ago. It didn't knock our socks off, but we didn't leave saying we would never go back either.
While our main courses were unmemorable (I honestly can't remember what I ate!), the lemon tart I had for dessert was really lovely.
I've been a few times, although not recently. The menu is seasonal. I've heard that the "steak and frites " is good.
We haven't been in a while but used to really enjoy it. Mainly because we knew the owner Didier from his days in catering. The first time we met him we had called a catering company at the last moment to cater a business function at our home. We had intended to do it all ourselves but were too busy with work so we did about half the food and had the other half catered and decided we needed a bartender/wait staff as well.
Didier arrived on schedule and I took him through the various dishes we had prepared and described what needed to be done/etc - he was sweet and charming and seemed very efficient. And then he said to me, in his perfect French accent, "Zis is fine madam, why don't you go get ready and I will busy myself here".
I was ready.
But I took his advice and went and slapped more makeup on the bags under my eyes and changed into something better!
Does anyone know if Didier still owns it?
He was quite good, and yes, the steak frites is quite tasty esp with the peppercorn sauce. They used to have it on special on Mon or Tue for around $15.95 or so a couple of years ago (I also haven't been lately for no particular reason). I'd like to know how it's doing with the new ownership.
