Ice Cream Werks (redwood shores) - is this place for real?

I don't usually flame places but this was such a horrible experience I simply have to. Seemingly great flavors on the menu (like white chocolate and espresso) - but only vanilla and peach ice cream available. Teenage servers were clueless. Ice cream appeared extremely freezer burned. 12 oz. of fossilized ice cream mixed with milk and a squirt of whipped cream is not a milkshake. Especially for 5 bucks. Makes me miss the Baskin Robbins.

  1. Do you mean the new place which has a banner out front that says "Milk Shake Werks" in the stripmall with Nob Hill Foods, Yeah! Chinese food, Mango Bay, and Tokyo Star?

I haven't tried it yet but I've noticed the banner a few times.

That's the place. Feel free to check it out if you want. I'm curious to know if they have the ability to get it together. My suspicion is that it's a money laundering operation... ;)

I tried this place for the second time (the first time was in mid June). I too am very disappointed. The assortment of flavors was good (at least on the board) but they were out of many flavors. They were even out of vanilla! How can an ice cream store run out of vanilla? Also their freezers have problems with temperature control as some of the ice cream is melted in the freezer itself. I decided to give the place a second try, thinking they had the operation running more efficiently now. I was wrong. I tried the birthday cake flavor and it tasted like chalk ice cream with sprinkles.

    2. I have tried them twice. The first time I had the Marzipan Almond Shake and it was great. I was in the mood for something VERY Sweet and I love Marzipan. A few weeks later I took my sister there to try the shake and they were out, in fact they were out of almost everything. Considering it is Summer and the time for Ice Cream, I would think they would try to keep more flavors available. We settled for some iced coffees from Starbucks. I might try them again, but I certainly won't go to the mall just for a shake....
