A friend loves this restaurant in PB. I haven't tried it yet but would like to know if anybody tried it recently.

  1. haven't tried it but the french fry part of the menu looks good!

    1. I tried it a few months ago. It was good. I enjoyed the garlic dip. However, I think the fries and garlic dip at the BBQ place in Uptown by Ben & Jerry's was even better.

There's a BBQ place in Uptown?

Yeah, I think it's the one that's kitty-korner from The Alibi at Richmond and University.

It's where Heidi's Yogurt used to be, by the Ben&Jerry's. I've heard from a couple of people who've tried it that "it's not worth going to" for their BBQ. Don't know if they tried the fries.

It's not exactly a BBQ place, it's called Baby Back Jack's Old Fashioned Broiler. The BBQ sauce tasted somewhat metallic, and had a weird tongue feel. The portions are large, and the fries are seasoned with a chili-paprika seasoning. The burgers were not bad. The roast beef dip was terrible.

          2. A Belgian friend gives it her thumbs up. She is a bit mystified why the owner is doing a breakfast thing and not trying to do a bartime thing, but such is life.

            1. They do their Belgian fries quite well - I'm not Belgian, but come from Montreal, Canada, which is home to many Belgian fry joints - crispy on the outside and soft and full inside. Be prepared for the price tag if you're used to Jack in the Box or McD prices - a full cone is ~$7 and a 1/2 is ~$4.
My one big beef is the hours - I drive down Mission Blvd every work day and, by 6 o'clock, the chairs are stacked up and the big iron door is locked. I mean, come on! A fry joint in the heart of the PB strip is closed before supper time...
