Here is the description I have. The "Hawkins" burger consist of three, one-pound ground beef patties. Each pattie has different toppings. Pattie one has 2 Italian sausages with hot chili sauce and cheese. Pattie two has 2 eggs over easy with chili sauce. Pattie three has 1/2 pound of the best pastrami in town with chili sauce. This all comes on a giant bun with divider pieces of bread in between the patties.

Ok, there should be some sort of law against yummy, juicy huge burgers like that. I think it would kill me.

I'm really glad you found that pic because I was about to head out the door for some lunch and now I know that I'm not nearly hungry enough for Hawkins at the moment. That thing is gi-normous.

You wimp. Any hardened over-indulger can see that there's a lot of excess air in the layers. If you squashed the whole thing down it would only be the size of...oh, I don't know...6 regular burgers?

You know, if this thing is $13 and has the approximate feeding capacity of 6 burgers, this might go down as one of the greatest deals in town as well.

No thanks. Bigger does not mean better. And I'm almost offended by a burger than I cannot take one bite of and taste a little of every ingredient. It's like it's laughing at me, saying "you can't possibly fully enjoy me!" It's like those Guiness book of world records foods - meant for show, ego, and press, not for eating, which to me defeats its reason for being. And I bet that all the toppings are just covering up a beef patty and/or buns completely devoid of flavor. Sorry, this burger is just making me so angry! :)

Totally agree LisaStitch! I took one look at that thing and In this case I think bigger means BARF! I couldn't get it off my screen fast enough. Good thing, I didn't want to be cleaning chunks off it and out of my keyborad! YUCK!

Don't let that monster deter you from going. Hawkins has many other types of burgers and in my opinion it's the best burger in L.A. county, outside of the really expensive steakhouse ones.

Holy crap! That thing is huge! I had a feeling that it was big but I never imagined...

It will definitely have to be a contender in "The Great Burger Quest."

Okay, it looks frightening. :) I actually imagined that it would be a wide burger, as opposed to a tall burger. I thought it would be the size of a dinner plate, and one would have to cut it into quarters to eat it. It now seems to me that one would need to eat it layer by layer.

Do they serve it with a jaw unhinger so you can eat it like a snake would eat a rat?
Just swallow it whole somehow and hope your stomach is up to the task!

Hawkins is seldom open during regular business hours, they seem to open and close whenever.Once,my brother went to Hawkins and they were leaving in the middle of the day,the lady said"it's too hot to work!"Your order takes forever whether you call ahead or not,the food is good when you can get it .

That's just ridiculous for the sake of being ridiculous.

"has anyone actually eatten one?" Since the ONLY way to eat it is to deconstruct it, turning into a horrible mess, I would think anybody would throw up before they could even start to eat it.

We went a couple of weeks ago to try it. It was like 92 degrees outside. Took by bil with cause he can eat. Little tiny place, mostly takeout, only had a couple of tables outside, and it was too hot to eat outside. They offered to put tables in the small counter space, but it was even hotter in there. They were very friendly and nice, but it was just too hot to eat, so we went over to the Hat on Lake for lunch. We might try it when it's much cooler.

oh hell no. Even I wouldn't make that attempt. Hubby and I ordered a double bacon cheese burger and chili cheese fries to share. They don't specify the size of a regular burger patty. I had no idea that a double meant two 8 oz patties! We're pretty freaking full but it was do-able. The burger was absolutely delicious. The meat has a nice coarse grind and tastes like it has been seasoned with only salt and pepper. Bacon was thick cut and smoky. Good stuff.

I heard about this burger and the burger joint from my girlfriend and I believe that it is a must try. I love a good challenge. Besides the challenge I would marvel the sight of a burger this enormous. I'm originally from south central but never heard of this place growing up. Maybe that's because the original joint was in Watts. Compton. I live in MI now and plan to return to LA for Turkey day next week. I'ma save a little room in the ol' belly to try that burger while I'm there. In reading the posts on this forum about this burger there seems to be a little confusion as to the actual size and ingredients of this monstrous meat marvel. I'll get the truth with pictures. Since I'll be in the Pasadena area I think I'm going to try it at the new building in Altadena, CA. Wish me luck.
