Dinner on the way to San Diago from LA

We often drive to San Diago from LA during the evening after traffic. We are looking for a restaurant that is close to the 405 or 5 FWY in any city on the way. We want mid price range. Open to anything that has quality food

There are sooooo many choices...can you give an idea of what area you would like to stop in, perhaps depending on your timing. Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, Irvine, Santa Ana, San Clemente, Del Mar, Oceanside, the list goes on....
