Sushi on 2nd St. in Belmont

I'm taking my boyfriend out for his first Sushi experience. I'm looking for a rec on 2nd St. in Belmont. I'd like it to be a fun busy place with a full bar. It needs to have a "cooked" menu as well, just in case the sushi doesn't go over well! Sushi virgin friendly is critical!

Thanks!

  1. Go a little further and stop at Restaurant Koi in Seal Beach (PCH and 5th or Marina - across from the Arco station). You won't be disappointed. They have both sushi and cooked items on the menu.

Koi is indeed outstanding. I've never been to Yen (next to Bono's on 2nd), but I've heard that people like it.

I would definitely drive the extra 2 or 3 miles to go to Restaurant Koi. I've been to Yen and it can get expensive.

I too am a Restaurant Koi lover. The only other place on 2nd that someone else mentioned, would be Yen. The others do not serve the same level of sushi as Koi.

            Thanks everyone....
One question about Koi, do they have a full bar?

for a full bar, you may want to try wasabi on pine, but i have no idea how their sushi is, but it is suppose to be a jamming place...

        2. We love Yen, but can't remember if they have a full bar or not (we always drink beer). They're also really nice -- it's a nice vibe in there.

          1. Sushi Saurus is okay, but definitely do NOT go to Sushi in Naples. Warm sashimi... blech. I don't think 2nd street is a good choice for a first sushi experience.
