Best Berkeley/Oakland fishmonger?

I am planning to try making some crudo ("bait" in Sicilian) appetizers this weekend (from the chef at Esca in Manhattan), and need somewhere with a selection of really fresh fish (sushi-quality would be ideal) and someone who will do a better job of thin-slicing it than I am likely to. I was thinking Berkeley Bowl or Ver Brugge, but are there better options?

Tokyo Fish (closed Sunday) or Monterey Fish (closed Sunday/Monday). The only time I go to Berkeley Bowl is on a Sunday when I need to have fish. I might give Monterey the slight edge on certain fish, but you can't go wrong with either, and selection/varieties is greater at Tokyo Fish.

The Ferry Terminal in San Francisco may be a bit off the beaten track for you; however, when I'm looking for not only the very freshest fishes and seafood as well as the greatest variety - I've always found that the Terminal is the place to go. For us, at least, it's well worth the trip.

Are you talking about San Francisco Fish Company, Ferry Plaza Seafood, or the Shogun Fish booth at the Saturday farmers' market?

Can't beat Tokyo Fish for sashimi.

Tokyo Fish and Monterey Fish on Hopkins are the best fish mongers in the area.
