Annual Yosemite Trip

gordon wing Aug 1, 2007 10:42 AM

Headed over to Lee Vining soon - via Yosemite NP. Would love to try some new places for lunch on the way. We've been stopping in Oakdale at the Agave Taqueria (good carnitas and salsa bar) .... read about the El Rodeo Grill - also in Oakdale. Any other interesting discoveries? Any type of food is OK - even a decent burger? More interested in things en route. I know about the Whoa Nellie Deli in LV and will visit there. We also like the food and calmer/woodsy atmosphere at the Tioga Pass Resort.

Tell me more about the Tioga Pass Resort. Prices? Food etc. Where is it? Reservations needed?

Here's a link to a report from last year .... check out the images for an idea of what they offer.

The H-B (H bar B) in Oakdale is a neat place for good burgers and other cowboy food. The Mexican restaurant right near it (I forget the name but it is on the same side of the street as the H-B) is also good. There is an amazing Greek restaurant in Modesto right off the highway called Papapavlos Mediterranean (1320 Standiford Avenue, Modesto, CA 95350; Tel: 209-525-3995)

My information is a few years old, but we stumbled onto a fun outdoor BBQ place in Groveland. As you drive through town on the 120, there's a parking lot to the right (south). At the back of the lot is (was) this funky BBQ joint with great ribs, cold beer, etc. If you get as far as the Iron Door Saloon on the 120, you've gone too far.
