Good restaurant gift certificate for moving Boston-er?

I am looking for a good restaurant in Boston where I can order a gift certificate to send to a friend. She is moving away from there next month and her birthday is coming up.
I know she likes sushi and more upscale places, but nothing more than $30 for an entree please. She has lived in Boston all her life, so I'd prefer getting the gift certificate from somewhere that most people agree on. Someplace people have tried and is considered good by most 'hounds. I don't live in the area and I'd rather be on the safe side.

Boston/Cambridge preferred. Hyde Park also ok.

  1. How about 10 Tables in Jamaica Plain? Very reasonable prices, especially considering the quality of the food.

$30 for just the entree gives you plenty of options though. Sushi, however, gets rough in terms of price points. I've always found it very easy to spend tons of dough on good sushi. Way over $30.

She could do a Mamma Maria's North End dinner. It's upscale and delicious.

Or for the quintessential Boston experience, Hamersley's would be a good choice.

    As would Locke Ober.

      I agree with Hammersley's.

Also, I know this isn't as unique or upscale but its always a safe bet and I know they do gift about Legal's.

And I was able to do it online. Perfect. Thanks for the help!!! I hope she likes it.
