Restaurant Supply Stores in DC Area?

I keep reading on the boards and in food articles about the benefits of purchasing kitchen items from a restaurant supply store. Does anyone know of any in the DC metro area?

  1. La Cuisine in Alexandria does supply restaurants, but I don't know if that's what you're looking for. http://www.lacuisineus.com/

    1. Best Supply in the Florida Avenue Market is a good place to start. It's manageable in size, has open shelves so you can pick things up and look at them, and most things have prices marked on them. It's closes early since it deals mostly with restaurants rather than the public so call ahead to check hours. I've gotten great pots and baking pans, food storage containers, other equipment, cleaning supplies, etc. at excellent prices.
It's down the street from Litteri's so stop in there for terrific buys on olive oil and other Italian specialties. The entire FL Ave Mkt is worth exploring. Many of the merchants are willing to sell to the public.

Thr is a restaurant supply store just off Rt. 1 in Beltsville--I don't remember the name but it may be Beltway Restaurant Supply or something like that. They are back one of the side streets to the right as you go NE--I think it's the one just before Costco, and I'm pretty sure its the one that Long Fence is on. They often have a sandwich board on the corner.

The best place I know of is Restaurant Depot, off Van Dorn in Alex., but you need a card to get in, and to get the card you need a business ID. Great place if you can get in. See if anyone in the business you know has one and tag along.

Search Restaurant Depot or Best Supply on this board and you'll find previous threads discussing this topic.
