Mom's 60th birthday in NYC
Hi, all...
Now that I live in San Diego (which is great for fun & sun but is quite the culinary wasteland compared to growing up a foodie in NYC), I'm kind of out of the loop. I'll be traveling back East with my 21 month old to celebrate my mother's 60th birthday in 2 weeks and we're looking for some ideas, any input would be welcome and very much appreciated.
Here are our parameters:
-party of 6-8 including my 21 month old chowbaby. she eats anything and everything (i know...lucky me!) and is happy sitting in a highchair, so it doesn't necessarily have to be a family friendly place...semi-trendy is ok.
-leaning towards great quality sushi, but the place needs to also have some cooked entrees for my non sushi eating father. my mom also really likes italian...especially fried calamari.
-possibly close by to a fun place to go afterwards for dessert/coffee/tea.
THANK YOU in advance for any advice or input.

Have you tried Nobu before.. I would suggest making a reservation at Nobu 57.. Its trendy, they have cooked and sushi as well.. You haven't asked for pricing parameters but, the place is expensive.. I think if you all went early the high chair thing wouldnt be a problem.. But I am not really sure...
Italian places, well there are many to choose from..
